Running Fitness

Each runner should have a list of personal goals. This list might include aspirations related to speed, endurance, weight loss, or mental toughness. All of these goals are dependent on how you train and how you incorporate running into your routine.

Your schedule and choice of workouts will have a big impact on your level of fitness. Lopsided training will result in lopsided fitness. And, without regular training, your running fitness will dwindle away right before your eyes.

Some runners just run. There’s nothing particularly wrong with that, but you can do better! By limiting yourself to only running, your body will eventually plateau and you may be setting yourself up for devastating injuries. It is extremely difficult to build strength or speed with one-note training.

To be the best runner you can be, you’ll need multi-faceted training that aims for full-body fitness. Building up the fitness capacity of your lungs, heart, muscles, and mind will no doubt make you a better runner.

Runners need to do strength training. Runners need to cross train. Runners need to practice mindfulness and mental toughness. And, of course, runners need to run.

By using all the resources on this site, you'll be able to integrate all of your training and fitness goals into your routine without sacrificing mileage.
